Project Scope
Project Overview
This design case focuses on the redesign of program pages for Mälardalen University’s website. The project was initiated to address the inconsistent design across the university's program pages and to better tailor the website to the needs of prospective and current students. The primary goal was to enhance student recruitment and provide a more cohesive and user-friendly experience.
Objective
The main objective was to create a new, adaptable template for the program pages that would meet the needs of the target audience — prospective and current students — while also ensuring a consistent visual and functional design across all program pages. The new design aimed to be intuitive, accessible, and aligned with the university's recruitment goals.
Design Process
A user-centered design approach guided the project. Various research and testing methods were employed, including think-aloud sessions, guerrilla testing, workshops, and usability testing. These methods facilitated an iterative development process, incorporating feedback from the target users at every stage. The process also involved creating prototypes at different fidelity levels to refine the design further.
Outcome
The project culminated in a design proposal for a new program page template. This template is flexible enough to accommodate the diverse needs of different academic programs, while also ensuring a consistent user experience across the university’s website. The proposed design addresses user needs by being more intuitive, accessible, and visually cohesive, ultimately supporting Mälardalen University’s goal of increasing student recruitment.
